Middle SUV Maruti Suzuki ‘hatched’ will become a hybrid vehicle in two variants – light and strong hybrids. This car will be produced at the Toyota Kirlloskar Motor Ltd Ltd. Factory in Bidadi Karnataka, Senior Executive Director Carmaker, Marketing & Sales, Shashank Srivastava, said.
The SUV will be launched during the third week of July and mass production will start from August, he said.Srivastava said the company had the dominant presence (67 percent market share) in the non-SUV segment but was left behind in the SUV market that grew and also discarded several sub-segments.
There are around 48 SUVs in the Indian market while Maruti Suzuki has a small presence here.”The upcoming hybrid SUV will be a game changer. We can stop the X-Cross model in the next stage,” Srivastava said.
The car major will focus on the SUV segment with more new models in the future because the new segment emerges with an increase in sales volume, he added.”For example, the lifestyle SUV market emerged. We have identified many SUV subsegments,” he said.
Regarding the shortcomings in the semiconductor chip, he said the planned production level was around 94-95 percent.Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 155,857 units in June 2022. Total sales this month included domestic sales of 125,710 units, sales to other vehicle makers of 6,314 units and exports of 23,833 units.
